Government Access Assistant

Andrew Richards brings over 30 years of experience and expertise in community and municipal television operations and programming. Originally from Ossining New York, Andrew graduated in 1983 with a B.A. in English from Syracuse University, where he was actively involved in University Union Television (now CitrusTV), an entirely student-run television station. A 33-year employee of the Bedford Central School District in Westchester County New York, Andrew spent his career developing and operating the television program for the District, most recently in the role of Educational Television Supervisor. Recognized locally as the role model for other governmental and educational video programs, his was the first to create a standard for live coverage of Board of Education meetings, videos highlighting High School sports and performing arts activities, and programming by the School District Administration communicating important information to the community. Working with High School Students, he developed an extra-curricular video program that trained students to produce their own video shorts spotlighting topics of student interest.

Working with local New York municipalities in Ossining, Bedford and Chappaqua, Andrew helped facilitate the video coverage of their local events. An experienced videographer, editor, and proven technical ‘problem solver’, he has produced free-lance projects for Performing Arts organizations and for students who needed to capture their performing or athletic abilities on video to present to perspective colleges or scholarship organizations.

Andrew is a Life Member and Ex-Captain with the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, having been trained as an Emergency Medical Technician. His family has had roots in Woods Hole since the 1940’s and he has been a regular visitor for over 50 years. Having always dreamed of making Cape Cod his permanent home, upon his retirement from Bedford Central School District he joined FCTV in January 2017, and has permanently relocated from Norwalk Connecticut to Falmouth with his wife and 2 dogs, where they all actively enjoy their love of the beach and the ocean.
