Falmouth Community Television (FCTV) recently began cablecasting the Audible Local Ledger’s readings of the Falmouth Enterprise and the Cape Cod Times on Public Channel 13. With this action, FCTV aims to support the Audible Local Ledger’s mission of bringing localized readings of news and items of interest to the listening public so that, anyone with a visual impairment or physical disability that makes reading difficult, are empowered to live their lives with the greatest possible personal independence.
FCTV's video server has been sent out for repairs and we are expecting it back by Friday. There will be limited programs re-played on both Channels 13 and 15 until the server is returned. Live programs will go on as scheduled on Government Channel 15.
Congratulations to Marilyn Rowland, a longtime FCTV member and producer, for being awarded the second annual Priscilla “Pucky” Roslansky Memorial Fund Award. Rowland’s video submission entitled “Lawanna Lynn Campbell: Is She Dead Yet?” is a recording of a discussion, sponsored by the Cape Cod Center for Women, on the topic of domestic violence that took place at the Public Falmouth Library on October 26, 2013. Rowland’s supporting submission, “One Billion Rising”, documents a growing group of women recognizing violence against women and working to help victims heal around the world. These two programs, currently available for viewing on Public Channel 13 and at fctv.org, demonstrate Rowland’s dedication to promoting important topics within the Falmouth community.
Fire officials issued a fire safety warning as we enter a weekend of extremely cold weather, perhaps the coldest in years. This weekend will tax our heating and electrical systems as we try to stay warm, so a little caution can help you make you it safely through the extreme weather.
