Kathryn J. Edin, best selling author of $2 A Day: Living On Almost Nothing In America, leads a discussion at Falmouth Academy’s Morse Hall. After two decades of groundbreaking research on American poverty, Kathryn Edin noticed something she hadn’t seen before — households surviving on virtually no cash income. The event benefited the Falmouth Service Center who works hand in hand with the community to educate, support, and improve the quality of life of Upper Cape residents in need.

Deborah Watson was born and raised in Falmouth. Her life has taken her in many directions, from hairdressing school in New Bedford to running a bed and breakfast in Wareham. “I sold some of my artwork to clients and did a couple of art shows there on our property,” she says of her bed and breakfast days.
