International Women's Day was celebrated at the Falmouth Jewish Congregation with a Panel Discussion by Liz Rabideau, Co-Chair, Cape Women’s Coalition; Penny Dube, Co-founder, Cape Cod Women for Change; and Teri Cavanaugh, Board Member, WE CAN. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day marks a call to action for all groups of women in a strong growing movement of advocacy, activism, support and gender parity.

FCTV Exclusive - Harambee

As part of Black History month each year, the science institutions around Woods Hole come together to put on the annual community gathering Harambee - a Kenyan tradition which means “all pull together.” Guests were treated to a wide variety of food such as ribs and collard greens as well as the percussive stylings of the Cape Cod African Dance and Drum group. FCTV spoke with some of the organizers of the event about the importance of diversity in our community.

FCTV Exclusive - East Falmouth Junior Achievement

In an effort to better prepare kids for entering the business world as adults, East Falmouth Elementary recently hosted a special supplemental class on junior achievement. Here students were given the task of creating their own hypothetical restaurants, hashing out a budgets and other logistical concerns that come with running a small business, which we’ll see in this next piece.
