Paintings by Gretchen Irving will be on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from January 10 through February 4, 2016. The public is invited to the Opening Reception, Sunday, January 10, from 3:00 to 5:00PM.
Gretchen Irving is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, with her BA in Art Education. She taught art publicly for 35 years and continues to teach privately.
Gretchen also completed the Art Therapy Program at UMASS Amherst, and interned at Worcester State Hospital. She became an adjunct Professor of Art Education at Springfield College and Westfield State College. While visiting England, Gretchen took art courses at The University of York, and has enjoyed touring art museums around the world. Gretchen continues to stay fresh, consistently taking new courses and learning new techniques, while honing her craft.
She currently resides on Cape Cod and is the proud grandmother of four boys with whom she shares her love and knowledge of the arts. “My art represents the beauty I find in life and allows me to share my appreciation of painting and co-existing with nature and my subjects. My hope is to bring joy and happiness to all through my work,” she says.
Gretchen is a member of The Cape Cod Art Association, The Yarmouth Art Guild, and The Cultural Center of Cape Cod. She has exhibited in Western Massachusetts, New Hampshire, The Guyer Barn in Hyannis, Eastwind Gallery in Orleans and in many, many fairs and informal shows. She regularly exhibits at The Shanties in Hyannis Harbor.
