Artwork by Deborah Watson will be on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from February 7, 2016 through March 4, 2016. The public is invited to the Opening Reception, Sunday, February 7, from 3:00 to 5:00PM.
Deborah Watson was born and raised in Falmouth. Her life has taken her in many directions, from hairdressing school in New Bedford to running a bed and breakfast in Wareham. “I sold some of my artwork to clients and did a couple of art shows there on our property,” she says of her bed and breakfast days.
Deborah was blessed to have both an artistic mother and grandmother and ample opportunities to be the near the water. Spending time walking along the Cape’s shore lines and boating in the beautiful waters of Nantucket and Vineyard Sound inspires her artwork of mythical mermaids. “I started to paint mermaids in the year 2000 when I did a lot of boating and that’s where I got the idea to paint on boat charts,” she explains. “It’s been my idea to paint mermaids on boat charts from around the world since then. This is why social media is so important today to reach out for clients. My wish is to get my charted mermaids off to a world-wide client base.”
Deborah has taken classes at the Falmouth Art Center and Cotuit Center for the Arts to aid her in expressing her love of sea life, all things nautical, and the colorful flowers found growing throughout all the quaint towns and villages from Woods Hole to Provincetown.
