FCTV Training Schedule
FCTV is always updating the training schedule and its curriculum. Listed below are what classes are coming up in the very near future:
2D Traditional Animation
During this four-session class, participants create a drawn ‘metamorphosis’ cycle animation and build two-dimensional cut out puppets. The drawn cycles and cut out puppets are incorporated into a multi-plane animation shoot using Dragonframe. Look forward to seeing the final composited animation sequences on Channel 13. Fees cover puppet building materials, paper and drawing tools. Prerequisite: Intro to Animation
Fee: $25.00 for FCTV members, $45.00 for non-members.
CAROUSEL Community Bulletin Board
A workshop geared towards our members from non-profit organizations. Create and manage your own pages on the Channel 13 Community Bulletin Board. Learn the details and components behind “Carousel” and how to use the very easy and user-friendly program. Learn how to promote the events and happenings of your non-profit organization!
Prerequisite: Non-Profit Organization Membership
FCTV Annual Meeting of Members
This annual event will take place at the Flying Bridge Restaurant, 220 Scranton Ave., Falmouth. Place your name on the reservation list at FCTV no later than Friday, May 17!
STOP MOTION ANIMATION
During this four-session class, participants build their own wire armature puppets, build an animation stage as a group and shoot an animation sequence that will air on Channel 13. Fees cover puppet and set building materials. Prerequisite: Introduction to Animation
Fee: $25.00 FCTV members, $45.00 non-members.
PHOTOSHOP for TV
This one-session class session is specifically geared towards FCTV producers who want to create engaging CGs, over-the-shoulders, full page boards, and titles for television. Prerequisite: Intro to Photoshop
Planning Your Production
This one-session workshop presents producers with various tools to help organize and structure program production, while increasing professionalism.
Prerequisite: Intro to Studio or Field Production
STORYBOARDING
In this three-part workshop, storyboarding is introduced as an important step in planning out an animated or live action production. Participants learn to use a scanner and Photoshop to create an animatic for a proposed film project. Prerequisite: None, please bring a short script to the first class.
Fee: free for FCTV members, $30 for non-members
Computer Graphics - Sculpting
This one-session class is designed for people who want to learn the basics of creating digital sculptures using Blender, the free, open-source computer software program. The class introduces participants to the user interface, sculpting brushes, render techniques and ways to print models in plastic, metal, ceramic and other media. Prerequisite: Introduction to Animation
Advanced Field Production
An opportunity to get acquainted with our remote field production
hardware and learn how to setup the “studio in a box” with our Anycast and Compix systems with multiple cameras and wireless headsets.
Prerequisite: Basic Field Production
PHOTOSHOP for Non-Profits
This one-session seminar is designed to teach participating non-profits how to use Photoshop in marketing campaigns. Learn the skills needed to design your own t-shirts, annual reports, brochures, fliers, web graphics and stickers in this class. Prerequisite: Non-Profit Status

Voiceover Techniques
This one-session seminar is designed to offer techniques and best practices for creating effective voiceovers for documentary projects.
Prerequisite: Intro to Studio Production
Computer Graphics - Animation
This one-session course is designed for people who want to understand how to animate 3D computer sculptures using Blender, the free, open-source computer software program. The basic concepts of computer-based animation are covered and all the main components of Blender’s workbench are explained. Three unique animation workflows are demonstrated so that the pros and cons of each method can be discussed. Prerequisite: Introduction to Animation
MOTION
This one-session seminar demonstrates how to use Apple’s MOTION to create animated and attention-grabbing titles.
Prerequisite: Final Cut X
Fee: free for FCTV members, $30 for non-members
Intro to ANIMATION
This class introduces participants to several animation techniques including 2D and 3D traditional animation as well as 2D and 3D computer animation. Character and story development techniques are discussed and multiple films are screened in order to showcase each animation technique.

JVC Camera Workshop
Learn to use our new JVC GY-HM150U hand-held camcorders. All kinds of new features! Prerequisite: Intro to Field Production
Advanced Studio Production
A workshop concentrating on studio directing, audio mixing, and lighting.
Prerequisite: Intro to Studio Production
Interview Techniques
This one-session seminar focuses on techniques for conducting a fruitful interview for both studio and field projects. Prerequisite: Intro to Studio Production
Intro to Studio Production
In this four-session course, participants learn how to produce their own timely or live “in-studio” television programs with little or no post-production needed. Hands-on instruction includes all the basics required to produce a multi-camera television show: camera and control room operations, audio, lighting, technical and floor directing.
Prerequisite: Orientation and Membership
