September 2008: Captured Moments - Photographs by Joel Arthur Leavitt

An exhibition of color photographs titled "Captured Moments - Eclectic Views Through the Lens" by East Falmouth and Florida resident, Joel Arthur Leavitt was on display at the Maser Gallery at FCTV, 310 Dillingham Avenue, from August 30 through September 25, 2008.

A "purist at heart" Mr. Leavitt captures candid moments of people and events in color. "God gave us a colorful world. And that is the one I like to photograph. I see beauty all around me" says the Boston born - Brookline raised retired businessman and philanthropist. He does not alter or manipulate his images with any computer digitization. Mr. Leavitt finds a diversity of subject matter between his various residences and travels with his new wife of five years.

Mr. Leavitt began his "photographic journey" in 1956. He retired from a 40-year career in his family business, Sweet Life Foods, where he was responsible for handling operations, labor relations, promotions and advertising.

Mr. Leavitt graduated from Dartmouth College and served in the U.S. Army in the Infantry and Psychological Warfare. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Florida Stage Theater Company in Manalapan, Florida.

Mr. Leavitt has produced a book of his work titled, Captured Moments.
