June 2009: "Beyond the Veil" - Visionary Paintings by Nicki Garner

"Angel of Hope" by Nicki Garner

An exhibition of paintings by Falmouth artist, Nicki Garner titled “Beyond the Veil,” was on display at the Maser Gallery at FCTV Community Television, 310 Dillingham Avenue, from May 31 through June 25, 2009. Opening reception: Sunday, June 7th, 3 to 5 p.m.

Ms. Garner strives to bring a little bit of Heaven to Earth every time she paints from the realms of spirit. Her lifelong interest in metaphysics has led her to create art that speaks of things beyond the physical world. This exhibit is a compilation of watercolors and acrylics painted from her mind’s eye from meditations, visions and dreams. Exhibited is her first visionary painting (48 x 60 acrylic), which was created in 1992 while she was pregnant with her first daughter, Kelsie. The painting of a beautiful woman with long auburn red hair and blue eyes stands on a veranda under a crescent moon at sunrise was appropriately titled “A Vision of Kelsie” after Kelsie was synchronistically born with red hair, blue eyes under a crescent moon in the early morning.

Another highlight of the exhibit is the first painting of a series of twelve pieces from Garner's current “Angelic Light Project” entitled “The Angel of Hope.” It is an 8’ x 4’ acrylic on masonite board framed with a faux stone arch. Garner received a vision of the project during a Reconnective Healing session when three angels appeared to her and showed her the paintings and her new studio. The exhibit also includes a sampling of her commissioned 11 x 14 watercolor spirit guides and angel paintings of which she has painted over three hundred to date. She uses meditation to access visions of spiritual guardians and paints compilations of the images she sees for each client. Lastly, Garner will be exhibiting some new works inspired by visions she has received as a Reiki Practitioner. Garner believes that we all possess a natural ability to see beyond the veil of consciousness.

Ms. Garner studied painting while at Regis College and began her art career in 1989 with a wholesale hand painted garment business distributing wearables to resort boutiques nationwide. When she began to raise her children she transitioned into creating illustrations for greeting card, packaging, imprinted garment and gift manufacturing companies. In 1999, she was moved so deeply by a dream in which she connected with beautiful and majestic angels, she felt called upon to paint angels on canvas who would powerfully gaze at and directly interact with viewers. She became actively involved in the Cape Cod holistic health community, became a Reiki practitioner and painted hundreds of angels on commission.

In April she celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Angel Room Studio Gallery in Mashpee. It is there that she paints and exhibits the “Angelic Light Project,” a series of twelve eight foot by four foot paintings of larger than life sized, photo realistic angels who appear to be walking off the canvas into the viewing space. The six female and six male angels each will carry an object that is symbolic of angels’ gifts to humanity and each radiate a loving peaceful presence. The public is welcome to view this ongoing heavenly art project as well as her other works from noon to 5pm Tuesday through Saturday.

Ms. Garner peacefully and happily lives in Falmouth with her husband Mark and her two teenage daughters. She may be reached at 774-392-0354 or through www.ArtbyNicki.com
