Old Silver Beach at Sunset in September by Karen Scata-Bos

Artwork by Karen Scata-Bos will be on display in the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from April 1 through April 26. The public is invited to the opening reception on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 5:00-7:30 pm.

Karen Scata-Bos is a freelance artist residing on Cape Cod. She is considered a fauve artist. Fauvism is a French expressionist movement that started in the 20th century. It is characterized by the use of pure, strong, bold color.

Her vibrant landscapes, seascapes, and floral paintings reflect her extensive travel throughout Europe, Australia, North America and the South Pacific islands. In addition, Karen’s commercial commissions have included interior design and mural paintings at Universal Expo ’92 Sevilla Spain, World’s Fair Portugal ’98, Swiss Expo 2000. To see Karen’s commercial work locally, check out Surf’s Up Pizza in Sandwich, where her mural, faux painting and logo design grace the walls.

Karen says, “Works in this show, “By the Sea,” were inspired by the time I spend surfing, boating and walking on the beach looking for treasure.”
