Welcome to another week of news from the
FCTV World Headquarters. We hope that you enjoy this week's
news from your favorite public access television studio . .
.
THE
FLOOD OF '05
As most of you have already heard at this
point (yesterday's email probably helped), FCTV was under water on
Sunday. Thanks to the quick thinking of the Bacons and Kevin
Lynch, we were able to avoid any MAJOR damage to the
facility. Also thanks to the Bacons, here are some photos of
what the facility looked like on Sunday afternoon.

At the time of this weekly eNews, we are
still closed. We promise to re-open the doors on Thursday
morning at 10am. We are sorry for the inconvenience that this
has caused.
WELCOME
DEREK FRATES

As stated here last week, we are proud to
to announce the addition of Derek Frates as our new Production
Coordinator (see picture above). Derek comes to us after
spending the last five years at New Bedford Cable Access. He
is a big sports fan, following the Oakland Raiders and the Boston
Red Sox (but nowhere near as big a fan as me). He will be
working a part-time schedule throughout the month of June and
starting with us full-time in July. Stop by and introduce
yourself to Derek!
Attention
FCTV Producers & Members
If you've ever spent any time here at the
studio, you know how little storage space we actually have. As
FCTV continues to grow, we are starting to realize that our tape
library upstairs desperately needs to be cleaned out. There
are tapes of shows up there that haven't aired on Channel 13 in a
LONG time and will probably never again see the light of day.
So we are asking that all that all producers and members, current
and past, come and pick up their tapes as soon as they can.
That's why we are announcing that on August 1, 2005, we will
be starting to clean out the library ourselves. That means
that a lot of the tapes will most likely be thrown out. So the
next time you come in, go upstairs and take a look to see if there's
anything there you might want to keep and take with you.
Also, as has been stated here before, we
are going to need ALL FCTV Members to come in and take
a look at the operating rules and regulations. We are going to
need everyone to re-sign the back page of that packet. It's
the ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RECEIVING OPERATING RULES &
REGULATIONS page. A lot of people have already done this,
but there are a lot more who haven’t. If you have any questions
about this, come on in and talk to Victoria, Debby, David, or
Jason.
FCTV

productions, contact David at FCTV for more details.

We have
orientations set up for the first Monday of every month (the
next ones are scheduled for 7/11 & 8/1). These are
open to anyone in the community interested in learning more about
FCTV before diving right into the classes.
Basic
Studio Production will be held in on Wednesday & Thursday
nights. David Finer will teach you how to put together a
multi-camera shoot from inside the FCTV Studio. Classes will
be held in June (6/22, 6/23, 6/29, & 6/30). They are held
from 7pm-9pm right here at FCTV.
Basic
Non-Linear Editing is being taught by Jason Crow and is a
one-session class that covers the basics of computer based
editing. You MUST have taken basic field production before
taking this class. Advanced Non-Linear Editing will be
offered by appointment only to those that have successfully
completed the basic class.
If you've
ever wanted to learn the system over at town hall for meeting
coverage, then take the Town Hall Control Room
Workshop. That class will be held on 6/27 each
starting at 7pm at Falmouth Town Hall.
The
Canon GL-Series Digital Camera Workshop is a one two-hour
workshop, by appointment, for those looking to brush up their skills
on the new digital cameras. You can sign up for this class
ONLY if you've taken Basic Field Production beforehand. Call
David Finer to set up an appointment.
Check out the FCTV website for a listing of more
classes! |
