FCTV will be offering a new series of television production classes starting in the Fall of 2008. Each course features instruction in selected areas of video production. Areas of concentration include studio production for both LIVE & taped TV shows, single and multiple camera field production and non-linear computer based editing and production software.


ORIENTATION: Orientation is a 1 ½-hour class offered each month to all new members and open to the

public. There is no obligation to attend this one session course but it is mandatory for anyone wanting to take other training or use FCTV facilities. Learn more about FCTV in the orientation.

BASIC FIELD PRODUCTION: This basic course is designed for anyone interested in video field production for the purpose of creating their own public access television shows. There are four sessions (two hours each), including one apprenticeship of actual field taping. This course provides hands on training in the operation of our Canon Mini-DV field camcorders and all optional accessories. Certification will be given upon completion of a final project in addition to scheduled classes.

BASIC STUDIO PRODUCTION: This basic course is designed for individuals & organizations interested in creating their own “in-studio” television program using the FCTV studio and control room to produce timely or even live programs with little or no post-production needed. There are seven sessions meeting once a week. Hands on instruction in this course includes all the basic skills required to produce a multi-camera television show. This training covers camera operations, audio, lighting, video switching and directing. The class is completed with an apprenticeship or final taped video project in addition to scheduled classes, which is televised on Falmouth Community Television.

TOWN HALL CONTROL ROOM WORKSHOP: This is a one session, two-hour workshop for volunteers who want to become involved in their community and the democratic process. Learn how to cablecast important municipal meetings and serve democracy utilizing a state of the art multi-camera remote control room. The class meets at Falmouth Town Hall in the Control Room located adjacent to the Selectmen Meeting Room.

CAROUSEL COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD WORKSHOP: This one session, two-hour workshop is geared towards our members from non-profit organizations. Now you can create and manage your own pages on the Channel 13 Community Bulletin Board. This workshop will explain the details and components behind “Carousel” and show you how to use the very easy and user-friendly

program. Learn how to promote the events and happenings of your non-profit organization!


FEE: FREE Limit: NO LIMIT

DOCUMENTARY SEMINAR: Shooting To Edit: The first of a monthly Documentary Seminar series. In this class, attendees will learn to prepare their shot selection and composition in preparation for post-production.

VIDEO SOFTWARE SEMINAR: Compix Basics: The third of a monthly Video Software Seminar series. In this class, attendees will get a tour of the Compix video titling software interface and be shown how to put together titles for both studio and multicamera field productions.

VIDEO SOFTWARE SEMINAR: Compix Basics: The fourth of a monthly Video Software Seminar series. In this class, attendees will be given a basic tour of Adobe’s professional graphics application and be shown how it can be used to enhance their video production.

FCTV VIDEO PRODUCTION INDIVIDUAL CLASSES


NON-LINEAR EDITING: This two session, two-hour course trains students in the Advanced Apple Based Final Cut Pro Non-Linear editing system.

FEE: FREE Limit: 2 Students per Class

Instructor: FCTV Staff Prerequisite: BASIC FIELD PRODUCTION


Training and additional sessions are available upon request.


OTHER WORKSHOP SESSIONS: Call Tony at 508-457-0800 to schedule time to learn After Effects, Photoshop, Studio Lighting, Recordable Field Hard Disk, Streaming Laptop, iDVD, Internet Video, On-Air Talent, Advanced Directing, Garage Band and much more.

Note: You may register for any course at the FCTV office, 310 Dillingham Ave, Falmouth - Sunday through Thursday 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Signed parental consent is required for any member under 18 years of age. Anyone who resides, works in Falmouth or attends schools in Falmouth is eligible to participate in classes.
