Our Workshops...

Television production workshops are among the most important services offered by FCTV. As with any other craft, television production knowledge and skills must be acquired through instruction and developed by hands-on experience. As an Active Member of FCTV, whether acting individually or on behalf of a community organization, you have the opportunity to learn TV production techniques under the direction of FCTV staff, and then to advance your skills by using FCTV's production equipment and facilities to produce television programs for Falmouth's Public Access Channel.

In welcoming everyone to become involved in Public Access programming, FCTV routinely offers Introductory and Advanced production courses. These are scheduled at times which serve the needs of the community - including days, evenings, and weekends. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Additional courses may be offered for those requiring access at non-traditional times, or for groups requiring specialized training.

In an effort to insure the production of community television programs which adhere to technical standards as well as legal and ethical program requirements, and to insure the proper care and handling of equipment, you must be certified as a community videographer prior to gaining access to production equipment and facilities. Several levels of certification are granted upon the successful completion of FCTV's various Production Workshops; if you can demonstrate sufficient knowledge of television production and of FCTV's production facilities and equipment you may apply for certification directly, subject to the approval of FCTV staff.

Organized groups in particular should appreciate the powerful contribution that Public Access Television can make to help your organization realize any number of its goals whether today's goal is to increase public visibility, build membership, televise an event, address a specific issue, or develop an on-going line of communication with people in the community. Tomorrow's goal may be different from today's, but having people from your organization trained in television production gives you the advantage of being able tap into television's power to help your organization meet its goals, today and tomorrow.
